Bienville Parish does not have a small claims court. Louisiana Law provides that the Clerk of Court may offer what is known as a Clerk’s Docket Division in which small claims may be filed. Claims filed with the Clerk’s Docket Division can not exceed $3,000.00, exclusive of interest, court costs, attorney fees, and penalties.
A Clerk’s Docket suit may be filed either by an attorney or in proper person. When filing in proper person, you assume the position of representing yourself in a legal action. The Clerk of Court’s Office is not allowed to give legal advice or to advise on the validity of a claim. Forms are available in the Clerk’s office for use in filing a suit.
