Mortgage Department

The Clerk of Court records all acts which are presented to them, in the order of their date. He is bound also to deliver to all persons who demand them, a certificate of the mortgages, privileges or donations, which has thus been recorded; if there is none, the certificate shall declare that fact.

Mortgage Certificate

A mortgage certificate is a signed certificate from the Clerk of Court’s office showing a list of liens, tax assessments, money judgements and mortgages affecting a piece of property. This certificate will cover a period of ten years. A Mortgage Certificate must be requested in writing. Fees for Certificates are as follows:

	Each Additional Name	$10.00
	Each Additional Property	$10.00

	Chattel Mortgage or Conveyance Certificate
	One Name and One Property	$20.00
	Each Additional Name	$10.00
	Each Additional Property	$10.00

	Lien Certificate
	One Name and One Property	$20.00
	Each Additional Name	$10.00
	Each Additional Property	$10.00

Mortgage Cancellations

Mortgages will be cancelled upon written notification of the mortgage holder. Fees for cancellations are as follows:

Cancellation of Mortgage by Presentation of Original Note

Cancellation of Mortgage by Lost Note Affidavit

Cancellation of Judgment (Requires Letter from Plaintiff Attorney)
